Fall Orchard Portraits on 35mm Film in Oregon
Film-Only Portrait Session in Oregon
This session was fully inspired by 35mm and 120 medium format film. I had an idea to do a senior session at an apple orchard, completely on film. No digital camera as the “just in case.” As an Oregon film photographer who loves film but always shoots with digital and film, this challenged me in the best way!
It was a little nerve-wracking and a lot exciting. I wanted to test my creativity and trust my own skills and instincts using film only. No screens, no re-dos. Just light, movement, and trust.
Sherwood Orchards Portrait Session in Oregon
We traveled to Sherwood Orchards in Sherwood, Oregon. A beautiful spot for fall senior photos, engagement sessions and even cozy family photos. Sherwood Orchards is a family-owned orchard where they grow apples, plums, pears, cherries, you name it. Think rows of fruit-bearing trees, grassy paths, and the dreamy, quilted hills of the Willamette Valley rolling in the background. It was peaceful, golden, and full of that September magic.
Fall Senior Session Inspiration: Oregon in September

My vision for this shoot was inspired by Oregon’s shift into fall, specifically harvest season. September is when everything starts to change. Apples are ripe, the mornings are crisp, and the days are a mix of golden-hour glow and a haze of fog.
I built a mood board full of:
- Wicker baskets & cozy sweaters
- Textured plaid & soft denim
- Ribbon-tied hair & blushing apples
- The earthy tones of early fall: deep greens, rich reds, and burnt oranges
Why I Shot This Session Entirely on 35 mm Film.
There’s something about shooting entirely on film that slows everything down in the best way. You can’t check the back of the camera, you just have to trust your gut, the light, and the connection in front of you.
Film captures skin tones, light, and colors in a way digital never quite matches. The tones can be soft or full of texture. The grain adds emotion and nostalgia. These photos feel timeless—like they could’ve been taken last week or 30 years ago.
Oregon Film Photographer | Fall 2026 Sessions
The reason I love film is because it’s not just a format; it’s an experience, slower, more intentional, and beautifully imperfect.
If you’re dreaming of a fall session for 2026, whether it's a wedding, engagement, senior portraits, or just because, I’d love to help you bring that vision to life on film.
Because some moments deserve to live forever on film.
